Here at EcoWorks, we’re a melting pot of people coming from all different walks of life. Some are young; some are older; some are American; and we even have a few international workers. We all take this as an opportunity to learn new things and experience different cultures. The office holds a potluck every third Thursday of the month so that we can all bring culturally-inspired dishes and share stories about when we first tried them. I’ve only attended one potluck so far, but it’s been my favorite office-related event! My best friend at the office (besides Micah of course) is a lady from Germany whose shown me a lot about her way of life back home. We even exchange translations here and there so we can learn each other’s language. I love the way she sometimes pronounces English words funny, like calling “flour” “floor”.<\/p>\n
I can honestly say that I’ll be\u00a0a more cultured person\u00a0by the end of this summer from working with so many different people. Who would have ever thought that I’d be working at Detroit-level non-profit beside a woman straight from Germany! My office is\u00a0boasting with people from different places, like\u00a0my supervisor who’s from North Carolina (and still has her\u00a0thick southern accent), and my Executive Director who’s from Mexico. The people I get to work with make my days\u00a0so enjoyable at the office. I’m truly going to miss them when I\u00a0finish up my internship. Hopefully we can stay in touch afterwards, though.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
