I am entering my third year of college, which means my third year of living outside of my house with my mom, of making my own decisions, and of living with new people. Even in high school I was always busy with more than just classes and the same is true with college and with living here in Detroit, except here in Detroit I don\u2019t have to worry about much outside of work and I finally feel like a real adult. I get to go grocery shopping and manage money and cook for myself, all of which I am really enjoying. Especially being in Detroit, it\u2019s nice that I can somewhere like Eastern Market and get good produce without spending a lot of money. I also like that there is so much to do in Detroit. One of my apartment-mates and I made a list of fun museums, festivals, restaurants, and more that we want to go to before the summer is over. Working eight hours almost every day is still hard sometimes; it\u2019s difficult to stay focused and not be completely tired when I come back home, but I honestly love my job. Focus: HOPE does so many amazing things and even though I am focusing on two specific projects I still get to hear about and see the other work they do. They put their all into the community and never settle for good enough. This job has made me think more about what I might want to do when I work for a non-profit full-time someday. I used to think that I wanted to do public relations or marketing for non-profit and even though I would probably still enjoy that I think some kind of programming would be more of what I want to do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
