I enjoyed the talk at Concert of Colors because it opened my eyes to the connection between the rusting belt of Detroit and its affects on Dearborn and the importance of intersectional activism and allyhood. It’s important to realize that the affects on Detroit not only impacted residents of Detroit but also neighboring cities. There are often more similarities than there are differences when we analyze the structural components of these issues.<\/p>\n
I must say that my favorite DCBRP activity was the Detroit Black Scroll Tour. There’s a myth that Detroit was this cultural hub of freedom and liberty post civil war when in reality there was just as much racism (and still slavery) as the south. The tour gave hindsight to the realities of Detroit and not just post race riots but from the 1800s and I valued that a lot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
