My expectations for the myself during the program is to make a great impression with my supervisors and make the most out of my experience. I will be working with Detroit Youth in a sports camp and my goal is to provide them with the encouragement, leadership skills, and mentorship that they may not receive or may lack. Many children and teens in the city of Detroit don’t get the opportunity to participate in sports such as lacrosse, tennis, golf, archery, and soccer because they are not traditional in the city but I’m happy to see that the organization I work with (Chandler Park Conservancy) offers those sports to the children in their summer program. I think that there is some major work to be done to improve the city of Detroit, but the continuous efforts that are being put into helping and supporting the community have been a great start to seeing a better and safer city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
