Some of the cultural cues I\u2019ve received at my community site include many of the workers being young (30 and below). I also noticed that many of the workers are Detroit natives, so they are really inclined to have a positive change in the community and be role models for the youth. I really like how connected my workplace is, since we work very closely with the Detroit Food Academy. The workplace culture is very enjoyable because we are pretty collaborative, yet there is still a lot of flexibility to suggest new ideas and take on side tasks that peak your interest. I would say that the workplace culture at Fresh Corner causes me to forget I am at \u201cwork\u201d sometimes because everyone is so accepting, approachable, and welcoming and it makes working there more like something I just enjoy to do.<\/p>\n
The culture at each of our pop-up sites varies from place to place, but I really enjoy the change of environments. From working at elementary schools to elderly homes to YMCAs, the people usually get excited to see us out there and greet us with smiling faces, reminding me just how important our work is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
