This summer has been exactly what I needed it to be.<\/p>\n
I ended my freshman year of college with just enough confidence to keep an earthworm afloat. I was thinking about every word I said, and feeling lost in all the ones I didn’t–and honestly eating pizza on that first night in a room full of completely friendly faces was terrifying.<\/p>\n
Through some hard work though, and with the secure environment those many friendly faces created, I’m feeling like I can be joyfully present, ask good questions, and even make a whole room laugh again.<\/p>\n
My placement has offered this same sense of security. And it’s not just that I get to drive down the same streets I felt home in so long ago. I also feel like I’m offering something that’s not easily replaced when I’m interviewing Delray residents, or when I’m drafting research questions for our annual report. I’m realizing that I’ve gained experience and expertise in my twenty years, and it’s so exciting to see myself functioning so well in the real world.<\/p>\n
I’m also just so happy to be pursuing my relationship with God again, and I’m so lucky I’ve been able to do so with a group of people that are so dedicated to His Word. It’s exciting, and it even feels new, and I know I’m just blessed to have access to so many people who are pursuing the same thing as me.<\/p>\n
I didn’t even know you could find yourself again while being surrounded by all new people. But that’s what I found here in Detroit, and in the DCBRP–just in a familiar backdrop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
