Reflecting on the CDAD culture is the most perfect way to sum up how CDAD operates. The organization is compromised of all women of color who serve their members, care for each other, and always lend a helping hand to those who need it. The culture of CDAD promotes a community of care, respect, equity, and diversity. It is a great model of breaking down systemic barriers that say, “women can’t lead” (especially women of color). Because, I’ll be honest- these WOC are leading in a phenomenal way. It makes me feel empowered to be in a space with WOC who welcome uncertainty, and first-time experience like mine. I feel comfortable knowing they promote diversity, in regards to race, and age. The organization is made up of primarily black and brown women, and even college students like myself, and another policy fellow from UMich. I love being apart of an organization that embraces diversity and cares for one another. It models a culture that I want to be apart of for the rest of my future careers. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
