Hi everyone! It’s almost the end of week two of working at the City of Detroit’s Office of Disability Affairs (ODA). So far, it has been an open and welcoming experience that I’m excited to continue working in. The ODA’s mission is to create a city that is more accessible for persons with disabilities by improving the quality of life and opportunities within it. My project is about increasing accessibility in healthcare for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. I’ll be looking into the current laws in place and coming up with suggestions for improvement. Outside of work, I’ve also been getting to know everyone else in DCERP. We have a group chat to suggest different activities (yoga, exploring, etc) to do together after work. I’m excited about getting to know everyone a bit more and about the plans we make along the way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
