\u00a0The organization strives to foster cooperation amongst the communities of metro Detroit, as we believe unity to be the most effective tool in solving regional problems. \u00a0We tackle all sorts of issues facing the region including municipal finance inefficiencies, a poor transit system, a lack of green technology, and many other complications that burden southeast Michigan. \u00a0This summer, I am working on a project called &#8220;Misaligned Michigan: Fixing Our Municipal Finance System.&#8221; \u00a0As I&#8217;m sure you can guess, the project&#8217;s goal is to discover what is detrimental to southeast Michigan&#8217;s municipal finance system and how these detriments can be\u00a0remedied. \u00a0My work entails\u00a0analyzing various policy believed to be problematic to the municipal finance system, creating a database to allow for future statistical analysis, producing blog-posts for MSA&#8217;s website, and hopefully I will have the chance to develop policy recommendations surrounding municipal finance. \u00a0Thus far, the experience has been nothing short of amazing and I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3594\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3594\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.lsa.umich.edu\/dcbrp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/467\/2014\/06\/photo-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3594\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.lsa.umich.edu\/dcbrp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/467\/2014\/06\/photo-6.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Us and Conan Smith, head of MSA.\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3594\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Us and Conan Smith, the head of MSA.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While I enjoy working at the MSA office, I enjoy my post-work Detroit explorations even more. \u00a0After only a week in the city, I feel like I have seen and experienced so much&#8211;but there is so much more that remains uncovered. \u00a0Each day continues to bring new experiences, and I am constantly in wonder as to what will come next. \u00a0For my entire existence, I have lived practically right next to Detroit, yet only now am I realizing the joy and adventure this metropolis has to offer. \u00a0I look forward to maintaining my post-work Indiana Jones lifestyle, and continuing my journey through Motown alongside my fellow post-work Indiana Jones..ziz.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Tactac<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey everyone, I couldn&#8217;t be happier to be working for the Michigan Suburbs Alliance (MSA) this summer!
