I was extremely proud of our accomplishments during the week of June 10th.\u00a0 On Wednesday Me, Amy and Rhonda (aka the team) presented our survey and community assistance ideas to the downriver minister\u2019s alliance.\u00a0 We did this presentation because we are aware that receiving their support could significantly help us in our research.\u00a0\u00a0 Our presentation went well and overall I think we have gained the support of the powerful downriver ministerial alliance! Along with this community interaction we took our first tour of southwest, Detroit.\u00a0 Being a Detroit resident I tend to think I know all about my city\u2026WRONG. \u00a0Southwest Detroit is far different than the area I was born and raised.\u00a0 Very different but a good different, I noticed a lot of diversity, well-kept communities and seemingly successful businesses.\u00a0 The only depressing and personally upsetting part of our tour of southwest were the industrial facilities.\u00a0 These are some of the filthiest, most toxic and environmentally threatening facilities in the state and they all reside in one community.\u00a0 These residents are forced to live with these industries and put up with all their crap.\u00a0 Living in these highly polluted communities are literally killing are people.\u00a0 The plus side of this is that both Amy and I are really excited to get involved with the community and make changes where we can.\u00a0 We are looking forward to working with the community in making these changes and I am sure the community is eager to work with us as well.\u00a0 Sooooo with that being said, there is a long summer ahead and we are and I believe we are still trying to find out EXACTLY what we will be doing but I think it will all work out great in the end \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
