Week 3 has involved so many events: Mid-day Music concerts in Campus Martius (all week, every week), Games and the opening of the Market on Cadillac Square, Yoga on Saturday morning, followed by Sand Aerobics at the Beach and a Kidz Show of Beauty and the Beast. It was exciting to be downtown because the River Days, Freedom Walk and Beer Fest brought tons of people to the area (many of whom stopped to relax, and of course take pictures at the park)!<\/p>\n
I love being at the Park and being able to watch all types of people find a place they can enjoy. Observing\/counting people at events all day yields a bunch of pretty inspiring moments. One such moment occurred in Sand Aerobics today. Only a few brave young women were out exercising at 1PM (it was extremely hot); however their workout involved blasting dance music in the beach area and a lot of people would stop by to dance a few seconds and watch, with respect these women who were jogging on the sand in this deadly heat. One such person was an elderly man in a basketball jersey. He walked through the park with a limping swagger, having to heave one leg that looked like it didn’t bend. However when he got to the Beach he stood still and began dancing to the Black Eyed Peas song that was blasting at the time. He followed the workout class and put his hands above his head, doing a few exercises with energy and style. Once he had had enough, he continued out the other end of the park, still limping but with a little more zest in his step.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s moments like these that make it worth it to spend everyday in this heat (it’s finally summer in Michigan guys).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
