Abstract

There are extensive laws surrounding corporate ethics in The United States, yet board members of certain corporations continue to practice illegal behavior. If the consequences for those held accountable do not discourage others from behaving the same way, what will? The importance of understanding what continues to encourage or allow unethical behavior cannot be overstated. This study uses past literature to understand the psychology and sociology behind unethical behavior of corporate board members. Drawing on previous research about Enron and other companies, theories were gathered about what led to unethical behavior within these corporations.
