Abstract

The healthcare system in Uganda still faces several challenges due to lack of accessibility of medical treatments, and the insufficiencies of resources by the government, limited supplies of medical apparatus and health delivery are not being efficient or effective. This project seeks to study and understand the variables and determinants of the healthcare system and its people in Uganda. The research will use quantitative and qualitative methods. The experimental design will be a 2X2 randomized controlled trail that will provide the following interventions: (1) the politician training – where politician learn skills in meeting the healthcare needs for the Ugandans; and (2) the politician-citizen meetings – where the citizens are able to submit their complaints, grievances, satisfactions, and dissatisfactions. In previous research about this project, there have been improvements in healthcare-seeking behaviors between pre- and post-interventions periods and increased in the politician-citizens meetings. Furthermore, there have been reductions in accessibility of medical treatments base on locations and less resources from the government, medical apparatus and health deliveries, and healthcare affordability to low-income family. The goal on this project is to extend the pilot project at scale and further study how to better improve health care quality in the Uganda public health system.
