Abstract
Theories are the foundation of social work and it enables a deeper understanding of human behavior and development, social environments and what drives change. But what theories are important and need to be taught in MSW curriculum can be a debatable topic. A national survey conducted in 2019 garnered responses from 258 random faculty members from accredited Masters of Social Work (MSW) programs, in which it obtained faculties’ attitudes towards the various theories and their importance. The results of this study will examine the relationship between the responses and faculties’ age, gender, and ethnicity. Based on the findings, we will discuss possible implications and if the selected theories align with MSW values and why they are important.
