Abstract

The research that I am currently conducting via UROP centers around an online tool known as Lettersmith. Lettersmith is an online platform that helps support students as well as professors with their academic writing skills. Lettersmith provides students with various different templates for a multitude of writing needs, from cover letters, professional letters, to even resumes. Professors are given the ability to upload any type of templates they wish and can make tags to ensure that clear goals are set for students. Students are also able to follow a tag checklist in order to ensure that they have included all the necessary information that the professor requires of them in their work. An additional feature that Lettersmith includes in their program is the ability to receive private, scaffolded feedback from both peers and instructors. Students no longer have to look for a third party application to share and receive feedback on their work, it can all be accomplished within Lettersmith itself.
