Abstract

For my Research Scholar independent project, I created, developed, and wrote an original feature-length screenplay entitled, “Meet Me by the Open Window”. This screenplay evolved from characters I created during my first year in UROP that I then decided to elaborate on. “Meet Me by the Open Window” takes place in a fictional city named Carey in southern Georgia. In writing this screenplay, the regional culture of the South was an essential part of my research in writing authentic characters. From a logline to a finished screenplay, I have spent the year learning to expand my creative writing into a long-form developed project.
