Abstract
Abstract Title: Designing an Online Tool that Enhances Intercultural Collaboration and Team Building Inspired by the ORBIT (Online Resource for Building Intercultural Teams) Project ORBIT project (Online Resource for Building Intercultural Teams) focuses on intercultural cooperation and interdisciplinary research. Our team is motivated by filling the gap between natural science and the humanities areas as well as digging into the possibilities of cultural differences during the research. In order to promote the project and reach our goals, ORBIT team set up several websites. There are mainly five parts: Middle School Platform; Humanities; Book: Intercultural Collaboration by Design; Book: Creative Resilience; ManageHF. The two books, written by Kelly Murdoch-Kitt and Denielle Emans, stating the main principle of the project. As for the middle school platform, ORBIT team cooperates with middle school teachers and collects feedback from them as a reflection of the book. On the other hand, the Humanities part is in the works of recruiting humanities staff to contribute their diverse perspectives on how to best portray humanities disciples and research interests within ORBIT collaborations. It is important that the wide range of topics studied within the humanities field is accurately represented in ORBIT’s facilitation of interdisciplinary collaboration. During this semester, the middle school teaching interview reflection will be actively put forward as a good resource of the book. At the same time, the promotions of Kelly and Denielle’s book will also be more involved on social media platforms. In the future, ORBIT platform will be a useful tool to help higher education faculty contact potential collaborators who are passionate about bringing global challenges into their teaching and research.
