Abstract

What are Gender-Sexuality Alliances (GSAs)? What do they look like, and why do they only tend to succeed in certain contexts? Through collaboration with the local nonprofit LGBT Detroit, this project seeks to examine factors that may contribute to a lack of GSAs in racially diverse schooling environments. Through conversations with local students, academics, and activists and independent research of contemporary literature; this project will culminate the publication of a specific manual directed towards students and faculty seeking to create diverse and racially sensitive GSAs in diverse school environments.
