Abstract
When it comes to the reporting of workforce data, universities have different presentation formats and access requirements that can make finding and accessing said data very difficult. Additionally, when universities are required to report workforce data, the purposes are generally related to student data and outcomes, and not faculty or staff data. This research study examined human resources and institutional websites from each university, as well as available national databases, to draw conclusions about the available workforce metrics and similarities and differences between institutions. Metrics such as overall headcount, student-to-faculty ratio, pay range, tenure status, and headcount per school/college were noted for each institution. Inconsistent definitions, missing data, and information only available with an institutional login were a few of the limitations impacting the study’s results. Ultimately, this study can help establish norms and common definitions for workforce data across higher education institutions.
