Abstract
We present a study to investigate the nitrene transfer ability of a Fe(II) complex supported by a TACN ligand. We are specifically interested in the role that an appended Lewis acidic borane plays in effecting the nitrene transfer reactivity. The primary reaction pathways involved adding a nitrene transfer reagent, such as aryl and alkyl azides, as well as tosyl-substituted [N-(phenylsulfonyl)imino]phenyliodinane, to our Iron(II) precursor in the presence of varying equivalents of substrate. We investigated product distribution using GCMS and NMR spectroscopy, specifically targeting olefin aziridination as well as C-H activation/amination of sp3 C-H bonds. Control reactions were run with a butyl appended TACN ligand as well to further assess the requirement for the Lewis acid.
