Abstract
The project seeks to develop a machine learning model for industry classification, that will be available for public use in order to broaden understanding of data and advance the model’s capabilities. To develop the model data was gathered from the internet and categorized to form a larger data set, which was then used to create a taxonomy of industries based on pre-existing general industry classifications, that will fit the said data set. This will be used to train and test a machine learning model, and then the performance of the model will be analyzed for accuracy. The result of this project will be a machine learning model capable of accurately and efficiently categorizing documents. The model will be one of the few widely available machine learning models that would be able to serve as an industry classifier.
