Abstract

All mass-sensitive applications, ranging from aerospace applications to terrestrial electric vehicles, could benefit from structural materials that are lightweight. If, in addition, they are optically transparent and conductive, then multifunctional window materials can be realized. We are currently using plasmonic aluminum nanoparticles to produce transparent, lightweight solids. Our effort is focused on maximizing the optical transparency and achieving reproducible solid behavior.
