Abstract
Whole Health is an initiative created by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that focuses on creating an individual plan for the patient based on their needs, goals and values. Whole Health has 8 circles: Moving the Body, Surroundings, Personal Development, Food & Drink, Recharge, Family, Friends & Co-workers, Spirit & Soul and Power of the Mind. Research on knowledge of Whole Health is essential in determining what aspects of health patients know the least about. In order to gather results, a survey was created through Qualtrics that gathered information about the 8 circles of Whole Health. This survey was targeted towards students at various universities, predominantly the University of Michigan, healthcare workers, and veterans. Basic descriptive statistics such as M/F ratio, age, etc. were used to categorize the data. Multivariate statistics was used to determine the associations in the data and hypotheses were tested with SPSS and Excel. This data helps fill in the gaps of knowledge in the community about proper health practice for improved wellness. As a result of the findings, an implementation project was created that focused on aspects of wellness that the community would benefit from knowing more about. (Right now we haven’t analyzed our findings or decided on a further project so for now it’s a little vague here, I’ll change that when we start the project). Healthcare workers, veterans and students can benefit from this research as the projects we create are based on things they don’t know much about or are uncomfortable with.
