Abstract
This project investigates how age affects variability during simulated highway driving. Participants complete a computer-simulated drive that includes real-life driving scenarios and conditions. The speed and lane deviation of the cognitively normal, older adult participants are compared to the cognitively normal, younger adults. Since driving is an activity that many people partake in every day, there is a lot that can be learned from investigating factors, such as age, that can affect the way people drive. Information learned from this investigation can be applied to future studies that wish to dive further into factors that affect how we drive and what those factors can tell us about someone’s cognitive ability.
