Abstract

The Constituency-Level Elections Archive (CLEA) is a large online database of constituency level election results for lower chamber and upper chamber legislative elections around the world. The CLEA project does not seek to answer a specific problem or question, rather it seeks to make information accessible to other researchers who may want to utilize the data for their research questions. The goal of this project is not to reach new conclusions about a country’s system or results, but rather to ensure that election results are accessible and free to all. Unlike most UROP projects, CLEA is centered on data collection, preparation, and dissemination. We are sent raw results in various formats, most commonly PDFs, and convert them into a uniform format. The availability of this data is incredibly important as it enables other researchers to improve and expand their understanding of constituency level elections. This current project will outline the procedure of contributing to the CLEA database as a student researcher.
