Abstract
Due to the intense global competition in the emerging electric vehicle market and the need to seize economic opportunities while tackling environmental issues, understanding the strategies adopted by various nations and regions is crucial for navigating this dynamic landscape and shaping a sustainable future for transportation. This research study aims to delve into the government policies, incentives and companies’ initiatives driving the adoption and development of electric vehicles, especially for the United States and European Union markets. Through rigorous analysis of government documents, reports, and company strategies, the project aims to provide insights into the current landscape and future prospects of EVs globally, with unique focuses on charging infrastructure, government policies and global competition. The research findings shed light on the proactive measures undertaken by the US and EU governments to promote charging infrastructure, fostering innovation among electric vehicle companies and facilitating the establishment of public charging stations. Government policies including bans on gas vehicles, tax benefits, and purchase incentives emerged as key drivers in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, paving the way for a sustainable transportation future. Moreover, the analysis underscores the heightened global competition fueled by Chinese EV expansion strategies, posing a significant threat to the domestic electric vehicle markets in the EU and US, prompting a strategic reevaluation of market dynamics and policy frameworks to maintain competitiveness and foster growth.
