Abstract
An immigrant’s struggle to assimilate impacts health outcomes. The aim of this study is to determine how race, language, and naturalization status impact specific health factors, such as high blood pressure, life satisfaction, and health rating. We used data collected in 2020, during the early stages of the pandemic. Analyses reveal that health outcomes were significantly lower among in Arabic speaking and individuals not born in the US. These findings indicate inferior health outcomes among immigrant, Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) populations. The findings in this study support our hypotheses of health disparities in the US with regards to immigrant vs. non-immigrant populations. Interventions should be designed to address to these disparities and improve the health outcomes of Arabic speaking MENA people in the US.
