Abstract
This research focuses on analyzing racial discrimination in the English soccer coaching market, specifically addressing the underrepresentation and challenges faced by Black individuals, predominantly of Sub-Saharan African or Caribbean descent. Despite a significant presence of Black soccer players in the top 4 divisions of English soccer, there exists a stark disparity in coaching positions. This study aims to expand on previous research, which was limited to a sample of players from 1990 to 2010, by encompassing all players within that time frame. The overarching goal is to definitively establish the transition from playing careers to coaching careers and advocate for systemic changes within the English Football Association (FA) to provide more opportunities for Black players post-retirement.
