Abstract
Around the world, researchers have recorded declines in body size through time in various animal taxa, seemingly driven by climate change. Bergmann’s rule, a rule that claims the body mass of animals decreases as temperatures increase, predicts that climate change should lead to smaller body size. However, the magnitude and direction of changes in body size associated with temperature are not consistent. A meta-analysis was completed to investigate the strength of Bergmann’s rule on a temporal scale.
