Abstract

This project aims to analyze the relative movements of depth gauges in the Great Lakes over time, focusing on understanding water level variations from 1860 to the present. The study examines the differences between water level readings from a Master Gauge constructed in 1860 and the lakewide average readings obtained from a collection of gauges built after 1920. By establishing a linear relationship between these differences and extrapolating it back to 1860, the project seeks to provide more accurate estimations of water levels between 1860 and 1920.
