Abstract

Elizabeth Trinh, the head of ODESI’s research team, has always been deeply interested in understanding time management and productivity, particularly among successful people such as leaders. This stems from her fascination with how high-achieving individuals navigate demanding roles while maintaining balance and effectiveness. Leaders often face intense time pressures and complex responsibilities, making studying their approaches to managing time and achieving productivity especially compelling. ODESI’s research seeks to answer a critical question: “How do leaders balance their time management and productivity?” Specifically, how do they prioritize competing demands, allocate their time effectively, and ensure their efforts align with their broader goals? This study employs a qualitative approach, using interviews with leaders from diverse industries. The data are analyzed for emergent themes and categories to allow the findings to reflect participants’ lived experiences and nuanced strategies. This project work is partially administered via the efforts of interns and hiring project managers to help divide the tasks. While the findings are open-ended, the goal is to clarify how leaders manage time and productivity successfully. The open-ended nature of the findings leaves room for further exploration and discovery. The research team has not met derived conclusions as the research is ongoing. Our research will contribute to the broader organizational behavior and leadership studies field by addressing the critical intersection of time management, productivity, and leadership effectiveness.
