Abstract
Over the past decade, the rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICT) has transformed the global technological landscape, offering unprecedented opportunities for innovation. However, this progress has also introduced significant challenges, including increased energy consumption, e-waste generation, data privacy concerns, and societal inequalities, all of which threaten sustainable development. This study examines how the top fifty S&P tech companies align their innovation strategies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an analysis of official press releases. By mapping corporate communications to the seventeen SDGs, we identify patterns in how companies address—or overlook—critical issues such as environmental sustainability, ethical innovation, and social equity. Preliminary findings suggest that while many companies prioritize goals related to industry and infrastructure (SDG 9), there are notable gaps in addressing responsible consumption (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13). Additionally, we explore the role of collaboration between organizations in designing and deploying technologies that balance innovation with sustainability. This research highlights the need for more comprehensive approaches to technological development that prioritize long-term societal and environmental well-being. The outcomes of this study have implications for corporate strategy, policy-making, and the broader discourse on the ethical and sustainable deployment of ICT.
