Abstract
Globally there is an ongoing decline in the mental health of young adults and affordable housing. Integrated mental health treatment has been shown to be effective to meet the needs of this population. When mental health providers and housing providers work together, it results in better outcomes for youth and young adults. We will conduct a scoping review to map the partnerships, collaborations and integrated models of care that provide both mental health and housing services to youth and young adults, as well as potential barriers and facilitators that may affect the implementation of these models. We will be using search terms in the categories of housing, mental health, integrated models, and age group. After conducting a title and abstract review, full-text review, and data extraction, we will summarize early findings about the types of collaborations, partnerships, and integrations between mental health and housing services and supports that are offered and implementation facilitators and barriers that impact health and housing outcomes. We will report the number of articles that will be included and excluded and report the reasons for exclusion. Articles may discuss collaborations in which mental health providers go to homeless shelters to provide services or where mental health providers refer clients to housing organizations. Potential barriers may include a lack of funding, discrimination, and staff safety concerns. To effectively serve youth and young adults, practitioners may consider improving access to integrated mental health and housing services.
