Abstract
The project “Labor Markets for Managers,†observes how managers navigate through the organizational structure and advance within various companies, as well as how they use their previous experience to move to other opportunities in the external job market. The internet and other information databases have been used to search for the employment history of managers throughout different companies around the world. The information that is acquired about each employee includes information about their gender, birth year, and educational history such as if they obtained a bachelors, masters, PhD, or a JD degree. The data that is gathered allows us to see the trends and progress that each employee has made throughout their years in the workforce. We work to acquire insight into the career trajectories of managerial talent and how their movement impacts corporate strategies. This data allows us to see how corporate decisions can be influenced by shifts in managerial positions, especially at such high levels of the corporate hierarchy. The corporate decisions include decisions such as mergers and acquisitions, which can be impacted by key leadership being shifted around. Overall, this study offers us insight on the connection between managerial movement and corporate decision-making, which uncovers other underlying aspects of companies as a whole throughout the world.
