Abstract
This study investigates how racial differences in financial status and access to caregiving services affect caregiving burden among Black and White caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). Black older adults are often affected by other disparities besides race differences such as financial resources, which can often contribute to the higher demands for family and unpaid caregivers (Fabius et al., 2020). Financial status can often affect the access to resources that can assist caregivers. This research seeks to understand if life circumstances such as perceived financial status and income along with caregiving services has an impact on caregiving burden. Ultimately, addressing these disparities can enhance caregiver well-being, reduce health inequities, and improve overall quality of life.
