Abstract
The School of Music Theatre & Dance (SMTD) Historical Costume Collection is comprised of over 1,000 historical garments showcasing pieces from as far back as the late 19th century. Started by Professor Emerita Zelma Weisfeld, the collection includes a variety of dresses, bathing suits, and fans. The intention of this project is to create an online database that is accessible to all University of Michigan students, complete with high-quality 3D scans of the garments and detailed descriptions. This database will enable students to virtually learn from these historical pieces; while ensuring they are preserved in a permanent home at the Walgreen Drama Center.
