Abstract
The SSA22 protocluster is a region in the universe that hosts a high density of galaxies, particularly in the early stages of the universe at redshift z ˜ 3.1. Observations from surveys using facilities such as ALMA, Chandra X-ray, and the HST have identified numerous galaxies, significantly contributing to our understanding of galaxy formation and the early evolution of the universe. In this study, we present results from a new JWST survey of the protocluster. With the high sensitivity and new wavelength coverage of JWST, we detect faint populations of galaxies and galaxies obscured by dust that have often been missed by existing observations. By reducing the data and cross-matching it with existing catalogs, we identify previously unrecognized galaxies and analyze their properties, including kinematics and mass, further advancing our understanding of the SSA22 protocluster.
