Abstract
The UM Neurodiversity Project was formed to create forums and policies to one day implement into the University of Michigan’s every day life. During this time, it was found that technology, especially video games, was a big part of helping individuals who identified as neurodivergent. The Technology and VR team investigates how video games help these individuals on a personal level and are discussing ways to implement spaces for anyone to be able to have some relief throughout the day. I will discuss here how Virtual Reality (VR) helps transport individuals from a harsh environment such as the world into a safe space where self-expression runs free, and how we can understand these individuals while trying to implement space on campus to be able to have this escape.
