OMG! I am extremely thankful to have been part of the 2018 UROP-WAGSFP because it really was life changing. Being surrounded by an amazing cohort and having a supportive mentor has helped me in my 10-week journey at University of Michigan.<\/h1>\n

Being away from home was difficult. There were numerous times I would cry because I missed home and my family. I vivdley remeber calling my mother on the phone after I had finished crying and as much as I wanted to tell her that I wanted to go home and sucked it up and continued working on my summer research with the Chicana Por Mi Raza (CPMR) Project. However, honestly what got me through these 10 weeks were everyone I had the honor to meet here in Ann Arbor, Michigan and in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.<\/h1>\n

Everyone was welcoming and extremely kind to me that it helped me create a home away form home. Lastly, I want to make a shout out to my girl who was there with to dance to Panamanian Reggaeton when we were in Professora Cotera’s office archiving and cataloguing all the documents and materials we collected for Eloisa G\u00f3mez, Andrea-Teresa Arenas and Martha Coteras Collection!<\/h1>\n
