It seeks to understand lobbying within state legislatures, specifically, and how lobbying networks took shape. My research mentor, a graduate student within the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan \u2013 Ann Arbor, travels around the country to photograph the lobbying records kept by state historical archives and my chief responsibility is to transcribe these records into typed excel spreadsheets. Afterward, I code female lobbyists that I have identified, a topic which it is my main goal to understand. This is subsidiary to my mentor\u2019s area of interest, which is investigating the relationship between lobbying contracts and lobbyists.<\/p>\n<p>My specified area of research is meant to impact how female lobbyists define themselves within the workplace and they are the impacted group of my research. By contrast, my research does not directly impact male lobbyists and their conduct in the workplace, but if male lobbyists behave more consciously as a result of my research, a possible subsidiary effect. From a macro-ethical perspective, categorizing lobbyists as either male or female could be potentially exclusionary to non-gender binary individuals.
