I am an incoming senior at the University of Michigan studying Psychology and Organizational Studies. I work in 3 research labs on campus and am the President of an Organizational Studies club named &#8220;Women in Leadership&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This summer I will be participating as a Research Assistant in a lab that studies educational quality through factors such as measurement metrics and current trends in K-12 education. My expectations for my summer research project include learning how to conduct large-scale literature reviews and writing research reports. I would also love to participate in the research methods discussion to learn more about which methods are most effective in displaying certain correlations and trends found in data sets. From this opportunity I hope to gain research experience outside of data collection and analysis. This research experience will hopefully provide me with strong communication skills with both a Principal Investigator and fellow Research Assistants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I expect to encounter a few challenges along the way. These may include confusion with new literature review software or a lack of understanding when writing initial research reports. Another challenge might be my overall novice status in regards to the literature review process. With the help of my mentor and the other research assistant on the project, I will most likely navigate these challenges to produce quality work that makes a positive change in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My previously developed skills in communication and collaboration will be a great benefit to my research project as I will be working with multiple people to conduct large-scale literature reviews. My skills in data collection and analysis will also strengthen my project as I will understand some research method terminology and processes that may be present in the literature that we review this summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This research project will ultimately help me to develop further research skills that will enhance my future career.
