So far I have really enjoyed my time on my project. Having worked on this project beforehand during the academic year, I have already been introduced to the foundational concepts of what we are researching. Given the opportunity to extend my contributions into the summer, I was mostly excited to explore new assignments. My first assignment included researching different acts passed by Congress that facilitated in the inclusion of female figures in upper-management positions. This not only equipped me with a new skill set but introduced me to an entirely new research experience. I haven\u2019t had the opportunity to research policy in the past. I believe this assignment allowed me to dip my toes in the water and get a feel for it. While I feel confident and comfortable in my project, there still were moments of doubt coming into the summer. The new time frame and flexibility tested my work ethic and organizational skills. I had to reorient my schedule in order to formulate a timeline that works best for me and my mentor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I believe social identity plays a large role in my research. Not only does it influence my understanding of the topics I am studying, but it also effects the subjects I research. My identity as a woman influences my passion and connection to this project as I feel directly connected to the women we study. Social identity has the possibility to inspire the researcher and deepen their understanding as it can become personal.
