This is Eva Harden! \ud83d\ude00 To recap, this summer I am working on a project about gender differences in sexual desire. It has been proven that there are gender differences between heterosexual men and women. We are going to be specifically looking to see if there are gender differences in heterosexual individuals\u2019 desire to engage in penile-vaginal intercourse (PVI). If there are gender differences in the desire to engage in PVI, we are going to examine a possible explanation for these differences: history of sexual abuse. My role in this research has been analyzing data, looking at past literature, and helping create a survey that we will eventually use. Currently, we are analyzing a global data set about sexual desire. Ethics play a large role in my research because we are dealing with a sensitive issue, such as sexual abuse, and a topic that some may consider taboo, which is sexual desire. Ethically, it is very important to make sure that you are wording questions in a way that is not possibly triggering or retraumatizing for individuals who have experienced sexual abuse. Also, ethics are important to keep in mind when working with data sets and running tests for significance, as it is unethical to falsify results, and it is also very important that you do not have a bias when interpreting your results. This research has the potential to have a lot of impact, including a better understanding of sexual dysfunction, sexual functioning post-sexual assault, and factors that contribute to gender differences in sexual desire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
