In my first blog entry, I acknowledged that I might have to change my argument around to better encapsulate the new information I encountered in my research. Now, I can say with certainty that was true! In fact, I ended up changing my whole project during the program and had to get on the right track quickly in order to get everything done in time. I worked with my mentor to figure out a new direction (and a new project!) which has helped me learn more about Elizabeth than I had previously known. I am glad that I got the opportunity to change directions, I feel like I have learned more than I thought I was going to by going down this path. It was really hard at the beginning when I realized that my previous thesis was not going to hold up with this new form of inquiry, but I had to learn how to pivot and appreciate what I got from the experience. I think that my biggest piece of advice for future WAGSFP fellows is to be comfortable with your research taking you places you haven’t been and didn’t think you’d go!
