Abstract

This project is about early-career faculty launching their research at research-intensive universities. The importance of early-career recognition is beyond dispute as it can boost researchers’ confidence, broaden connections, and increase research visibility and impact. The part of the project that I am focusing on primarily deals with finding and analyzing data about Early Career Awards and the scholars included. A better visualization of the profile of awardees and connections between different awards may provide researchers with better insight of how they should manage their future research trajectory and what should they do to be more efficient in their researching process. IRIS’s goal of the project report is to help university decision-makers (like Vice Presidents of Research) to understand how early-career researchers are developing at their own institutions. Most of my current work include using Python to build my own notebook of early-career awards data analysis and provide insights for the IRIS group on how to build a more comprehensive final report. Most of the related data are provided by universities which will be the recipient of our final report. The project may lead to a growing attention on early career faculties and awards and may enhance the connections between various organizations that all dedicated to build a better research environment.
