Abstract
The project is dedicated to the use of rich media technologies (i.e. digital graphics and video) to investigate 1) teachers’ thinking about the teaching of mathematics, 2) teachers’ expertise for mathematics teaching, 3) how mathematics teachers’ knowledge informs their decision making. To investigate these issues, we have developed an online multimedia platform called LessonSketch (http://lessonsketch.org) to create and administer multimedia questionnaires. Recently, we administered some of these questionnaires to a sample of secondary mathematics teachers from across the country and are looking for assistance in analyzing some of the resulting data.We have used a suite of such instruments, many involving scenario-based surveys, to collect data from a large number of secondary mathematics teachers from across the country. We analyze this data using quantitative and qualitative methods.
