Abstract

What did these companies in EU countries do responding to the EU electric generating policy during 2004-2009? Which of these responses turns out to be most popular, and which of these responses worked eventually? How do these companies change their strategy in the area of electricity generation given that the policy from the EU could be more radical in the future? This research aims to gather data in 2004-2009 and answer the questions like these. In this research, the main method I used is searching, the site I used included “face set”, for which the purpose of this website is to find the official website of the companies in which I conducted research. I also used the internet archive to go to the website in the year 2004-2009. I divided the response of these companies into sub-branches and categorized them. In this way, I would be able to see what is the most popular way of fulfilling the new policy. (For example, are they trying to make energy generation renewable? Are they generating the energy in a centralized way?) I hope to find all this information about the way these companies deal with the policy. I can see that a lot of companies changed their traditional way of energy generation into renewables. However, I do notice that a lot of companies have closed permanently. As this research is still taking place, I need more data to reach conclusion. Gathering information about companies reacting to the environmental policy helps other companies modify their strategy facing the progressively radical environmental policies in the upcoming future. The companies would benefit as they can learn from this research, the general public would benefit, as the companies become more environmentally friendly, or use more renewable energy.
