Abstract
In mid-20th Century America, economic policy was driven by equitable income distribution to produce economic growth and mobility, or “Growth Keynesianism.†The Reviving Growth Keynesianism project aims to republish and resurface the writing of academics who articulated these ideas throughout history. This year’s UROP project specifically chronicles the original work of American economists in the 19th Century that presented economic ideas that resembled later Keynesian theory in the 20th Century. Overall, this comprehensive study illustrates the history of “Growth Keynesianism†and the progression of its use in America, including its lessons for economic policy today.
