Abstract
My research project is studying wearable technology, such as fitbits, and mobile apps, like Roadmap, to improve patient care, patient mental-health, and communication between patients and their doctors. I have been analyzing data for a study that was conducted about the benefits the mobile app, Roadmap 2.0, had on the mental-health of students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The question trying to be answered with this research is how technology can either help or hurt patients and/or impact their care and wellbeing. This project seeks new knowledge because this technology is very new and is still being developed and improved. Also, the apps and wearable devices being used are taking advantage of this research to understand how they can improve their devices in order to better help people. I have been using NVivo to code chat rooms and other activity forums from the app in order to help my research team obtain data to complete this study. I hope we will find that this technology is helping the students and improving their mental-health and wellbeing. Our research will hopefully produce findings to better understand how these apps benefit patients and what can be done in the future to improve people’s quality of life even more.
