Abstract
4U 1755-338 is a transient low-mass X-ray binary system, discovered and identified as a bright X-ray source by the Uhuru satellite in 1971. After a 24-year quiescent phase, this accreting black hole candidate has once again entered into outburst in April of 2020. The outburst was observed on multiple occasions by the NASA Neil Gehrels Swift observatory, with data originating from the years 2014, 2020, and 2021. Within this project, the goal is to study the outburst morphology exhibited by 4U 1755-338 by analyzing the observed X-ray light curves and spectra. X-ray spectra in the 0.5 – 10.0 keV energy band have been modeled with a two component disk blackbody and power-law model, as well as an individual disk blackbody model, to study the temporal evolution of source properties and characteristics. Observational data sets have been examined, compared, and analyzed through the use of these previously established accretion disk models in an attempt to explain what is observed within a numerical and astronomical context.
